In my opinion, patience is the hardest element of health and fitness to practice. Almost everyone, myself included, expects instantaneous results when starting a new diet/exercise regimen. Unfortunately, 1-week worth of healthy eating and exercise wonβt erase years worth of poor nutritional choices and lack of activity, but it will help bring you closer towards your ultimate goal.
Itβs easy to get inside your own head when you feel like your results are slowing and start to get discouraged. Thoughts of βthis isnβt workingβ start to slowly creep into your mind and you begin to wonder why youβre even bothering. I know that I can be guilty of this especially when the scale stops moving or worse starts creeping back up. Whenever I hit this point, I stop to remind myself of my goals and why this is important to me. I remind myself why I started in the first place and tell myself that Iβm actually doing a really great job and that the results I want will come, eventually. I know that is all much easier said than done, but with practice youβll learn to have patience and trust that the process will work.
Consistency in your diet/exercise routine goes right along with patience. While this element, may be easier to practice it still does present its challenges. Consistency for me is day in and day out making choices that will help me with my long-term goals.
Consistency, especially with eating habits, can really take some practice. Everyone has slip-ups and overeats or indulges in a craving. When I slip-up or indulge in something I make sure to get right back on track. I donβt say to myself Iβll get back on track tomorrow or Iβll get back on track Monday. From personal experience, I can honestly say that if you tell yourself βOh Iβll get back on track tomorrowβ more often than not thatβs not the case. There could be weeks or months of βtomorrowsβ before you end up back on track and further from your goal than where you initially were.
If you truly want to achieve long term success with your health and fitness goals, you need to be patient and consistent. Putting in daily efforts towards being consistent and learning to be patient and trust the process will pay off in the long run.
No Secrets β No Tricks β Be Patient β Be Consistent
Love, love, LOVE!! We are definitely a society of instant gratification, so when redesigning the way our bodies eat and move, when we don’t see immediate results, it’s so easy to be discouraged. Thank you for the inspiration to get active and stay consistent today <3
You are welcome π I’m glad our post was able to help give you some inspiration! π
It is hard to wait for results. I just keep going when it comes to fitness as it is also good for my health.
Agreed!
I do try to jog daily, and that seems to help me. I never expect quick results. So long as my pants button, I’m good to go.
awesome!
Patience is such a hard thing to have sometimes, as you would like to see things happen now, have results now.
Agreed!
You have such a great perspective. Love this. Thank you for the encouraging wordsβ¦.it really made me think.
Thanks for checking us out π
Great information! As a fellow athlete, I know this to be true more than anything. When I stop training for a period of time and get back into it, I always expect myself to be right back where I left off and it can be frustrating to not seem immediate success. So important to be patient and confident with yourself that you will get the results you seek if you stick with it.
Agreed! It can be so frustrating when you’re not where you should be.
I see your point. For me it’s a matter of concentration to the goal. If you are lacking this then patience is a factor. If you don’t, then patience isn’t. I hope I am making sense π
Focusing on the goal is just as important as having the patience to achieve it, I agree π
Two of the hardest things especially for new bloggers. I really like that you mixed this topic with eating I guess thats why my eating lifestyle changes never work! Its a work in progress. Thanks for the post.
Everything is a work in progress, I”m glad you liked our post π
wow, this is so beautiful. LOVE it. we def need to have patience with everything in life my mom has always said that whatever comes easy leaves just as easy.
I agree with her! π
This is incredibly inspiring!! Youβre a wonderful writer! Love the name of your blog also!
Thank you so much π
I totally agree with you. You need patience. Iβve stoped my health journey so many times bc I just lost patience
Patience is so hard but so necessary!
Personally, my biggest struggle with fitness is staying consistent. I often find myself making poor excuses for why I can’t exercise that day. Something I hope to fix soon!
Take it one day at a time or try to fit in smaller bursts of exercise throughout the day. I typically like to exercise first thing in the morning before any excuses can get in the way.
I teach health, but sadly, I must admit, I don’t really practice what I preach. I do need patience!
Patience is essential but so hard to practice!
I definitely need to learn how to be more patient. Thanks for this post!
Thanks for checking us out π
Patience for sure is hard. The fact is that we are humans and we will mess up. However it’s hard to keep that in mind when starting a new diet or routine.
Agreed!
To be honest, I often give up because I expect to see results immediately. I definitely need to work on my patience.
It is so hard to be patient, but totally worth it once you start seeing those results you’ve worked so hard for!
You must be in head. I have went on a meatless diet and I thought I would of lost more weight by now (its only been 2 weeks) I know I have to continue to see results.
Keep plugging along, slowly and surely you will get there!
I am NOT the most patient person in the world by far. I think its one of the areas that I am lacking in. I want results and I want them now!! Haha, this post was so relatable. Thanks for sharing! π
LOL you are welcome π
