One of my absolute favorite take out meals to order is a mozzarella, chicken and balsamic wrap. It wouldn’t matter where I would order them from because they would always be good! While in theory this does sound like a a healthier option, it is so hard to know how each restaurant is cooking their chicken or how much oil they’re using to cook. It’s also hard to guess what kind of wrap you’re getting – I’ve seen some wraps that have 10g of carbs for wraps and some that have 30g of carbs for wraps.

Ever since we made it a push to eat really healthy, healthier than we were eating I decided to try to craft my own homemade version of this and I must admit it’s quite good. Whenever I make it, it almost feels like we are eating a cheat or treat meal when in reality its healthy and fits right within our daily Macro allowance.

When I set out to craft my recipe my goal was to use Macro friendly ingredients. My Favorite tortilla to cook with is the Tumaro’s Multigrain Wrap:

I prefer to cook with these because they are low in overall calories and carbs. Each wrap contains: 60 Calories, 6g of Protein, 2g of Fat, and 11g of Carbohydrates.

My favorite dressing to make this recipe with is Maple Grove Farms of Vermont Fat-Free Balsamic Vinaigrette. For each two Tablespoons of this dressing it is: 15 Calories, 0g Protein, 0g Fat, and 3g of Carbohydrates. Because this dressing is so low in calories, its easy to sneak into a lot of different recipes to add some flavor!

The cheese I used for the recipe was a part-skim shredded mozzarella. I always like to weigh out and portion my cheese beforehand so its easily accessible and I can start to add it into my meal without having to worry.

The macro breakdown can be found at the bottom of the page, Enjoy!

Macro-Friendly Chicken and Balsamic Wraps

Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 20 minutes
Total Time 30 minutes
Servings 1

Ingredients

  • 1 Wrap Tumaro's Multigrain
  • 1 tbsp Fat Free Balsamic Vinaigrette Maple Grove Farms
  • 2 oz cooked boneless skinless chicken breast
  • 35 g Part Skim Shredded Mozzarella

Instructions

  1. 1. Preheat the oven to 400 and start cooking the chicken when the oven is ready (the size of the chicken breast you are cooking will determine how long it needs to be cooked for)

    2. Start Preparing the Wrap! When I make this, I like to place my wrap on the plate and fold it in half.

    3. Once you have your wrap all measured out, place 1 TBSP of the Balsamic Vinaigrette on half of the wrap and spread it out with either a spoon or knife

    4. Place wrap aside, for now, and once the chicken is done dice it up into smaller pieces, bite size and get ready to add it into the wrap - Leave the Oven on...For Now

    5. Start laying out your diced/cut chicken into the wrap and spread it out evenly along the half of the wrap with the dressing.

    6. When the chicken is all laid out, spread the cheese evenly throughout the half of the wrap with the chicken and dressing

    7. Once all of that is completed, fold in half, and place your plate back into the oven to let the cheese get all gooey and melted - less than 5 minutes should get the job done!

    8. Take the wrap out of the oven, cut in half, and enjoy!

The Calorie Count & Macro distribution for each wrap is as follows:

  • Calories: 278.5
  • Carbohydrates: 13.75g
  • Protein: 32.76g
  • Fat: 12.62g
